We believe that children are unique individuals, and we strive to cultivate each student's strengths and encourage his or her own positive character.  We realize that the optimum opportunity for teaching children additional languages is from birth to age five. The window of opportunity for mastering additional languages begins to close after a child's tenth year. Therefore, we have provided a special program for assisting your child with his language development. Your child is given a complete language immersion program in Arabic and English on alternate days. Units Curriculum: Our curriculum is theme based with an emphasis on multi-sensory teaching methods and language rich activities. The use of themes provides the children with practice and application for the skills in meaningful contexts. Themes relate directly to children's real-life experiences and build on what they know. This multi-sensory approach provides activities for all learning styles. In addition, several subject areas are integrated in the program to further enhance the curriculum.   Life Skills : Developing our children's characters and building strong, responsible citizens is done through the teaching of our Life Skills' curriculum based on the Quran and Hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Language Development: The most important skills that should be established and taught to children in the early stages of childhood are reading and Math. As a result of that, the Kindergarten curriculum prepares and introduces the child to these two subjects.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Computer : Using modern technology is one of the Al-Bassam's objectives.  Our computer program is unique as it teaches our students, beginning in Pre-Kindergarten, computer and keyboarding skills in English and Arabic. The children have a computer center in their class which allows them daily access to the computer.  Library: Our school has a modern library complete with audio/visual aids, computer system with internet service, and a growing library of instructional software, videos, and most importantly, books. We encourage children to read and write and hope to make reading a wonderful and exciting experience. P.E. and Swimming:   One of the Kindergarten objectives is to develop the physical and the muscular part of the child throughout physical activities. Because of that our Kindergarten program includes P.E. and swimming which is considered to be entertaining as well as being beneficial.
