  • Basic Information About Al-Bassam Schools:

    Foundation: Al-Bassam Private School was founded in 1998 as a private school for girls (Al-Bassam Girls Campus) including Kindergarten, Primary, Middle and Secondary stages. In 2002, another branch of the schools was founded (Al-Bassam Boys Campus). The two campuses are located in Shate’a District in Dammam.

    Academic Curriculum: There are two types of curriculum and programs applied in the above mentioned two campuses: Saudi National Curriculum and the British Curriculum IGCSE. In 2016, the third campus was founded in Nozhat Al Khaleej District in Dammam as an International School for the IB program (Al-Basaam International Campus).

    The Number of Students: There is significant increase in the number of students annually due to the expansion of our schools. The majority of students in the three campuses are Saudi national but there are also some other different nationalities. The latest update of the number of students in the current academic year 2016-2017 in the three campuses is as shown in the following table:

    Governance: The Advisory Board of Al-Bassam Schools consists of (8) members in addition to the Chairman of the Advisory Board. There is also internal regulations including (11) articles prepared well based on Section C of the CIS Membership Criteria. It was established on the basis of the requirements of the CIS accreditation. The advisory Board membership term is four years Its meetings are held four times per year, two meetings each semester.

    Educational Council: The school has an educational council consisting of the Council Chairman who is the owner of the schools, the membership of the three campusese principals as well as the secretary.

    Number of Staff: The total number of administrative and teaching staff for the curent Academic year is 415 employees in the the three campuses.

     

    Accreditation History: Al-Bassam Schools have obtained two International accreditations as follows: 

    1- Advanced Accreditation: Al-Bassam Schools have obtained this accreditation on September 10, 2015 by a team of external evaluators using Index of Education Quality (IEQ). It Provides a comprehensive measurement of overall performance based on a comprehensive set of indicators and assessment criteria. It is a training tool for improvement to identify areas of success as well as areas that need more focus.

    The importance of Index of Education Quality (IEQ) is determined by the five indicators of standards. The results of these standards provide schools with clear evidence of efforts to improve the performance of the school’s programs in a detailed and holistic manner by showing the averages of each indicator and the standard as a whole. It also guides the schools to achieve the excellence in student performance in different areas of learning. The five standards include (33) indicators. The table below shows the results of the five benchmarks evaluation and the overall score of the Bassam schools compared to the World Education Quality Index

    It is noted from the above table that the Index of Education Quality (IEQ) in Al-Bassam schools as a whole is 3.01 while the Index of Education Quality (IEQ) in the world is (2.78). This is a clear evidence that Al-Bassam Schools aspire for excellence. This, of course, is a challenge to maintain this great achievement as well as it is great motivation to reach higher levels in the planning and implementation of our future programs.

    2- AIAASC Accreditation: (American International Accreditation Association o f Schools and Colleges)

    Al-Bassam schools have obtained this accreditation on November 23, 2015 which included five standards with 46 indicators. The table below shows the averages for all standards either in the Schools’ self-study or the external evaluation team.

    The table above shows that the average rating of our schools is 4.4 while average rating of the external assessment team (4.2) and the total score is (5). The main recommendations of the accreditation team were the translation of the main documents from Arabic to English. In addition, Completion of the Scope and Sequence Matrix for the Core subjects.

     

    Al-Bassam Schools include the following horizontal divisions:

    * National Program:

    1- Kindergarten:

    A- KG1 = 3-4 Years old.

    B- KG2 = 4-5 Years old.

    C: KG3 = 5-6 Years old.

    2- Primary School:

    A- Grade 1 = 6-7 Years old.

    B- Grade 2 = 7-8 Years old.

    C- Grade 3 = 8-9 Years old.

    D- Grade 4 = 9-10 Years old.

    E- Grade 5 = 10-11 Years old.

    F: Grade 6 = 11-12 Years old.

    3- Middle School:

    A- Grade 7 = 12-13 Years old.

    B- Grade 8 = 13-14 Years old.

    C- Grade 9 = 14-15 Years old.

    4- Secondary School:

    A- Grade 10 = 15-16 Years old.

    B- Grade 11 = 16-17 Years old.

    C- Grade 12 = 17-18 Years old.
